Tommorow night going out to Xmen First Class. Super excited for the film. It’s funny I dreaded it when they announced it, but now I can’t wait. Heading to Heroescon in Charlotte on Saturday. Gonna see a bunch of amazing artists and some of our friends while there. My dad visits Sunday, so our first weekend back looks to be super full. See some of you in Charlotte!
I teased these about a month ago with a twitpic of the painted bottles, have finally added the first creatures. Each of the bottles will come painted with two creatures on them. The first one features a Panda creature and a Spiky hair one and is up on Etsy now Also painted an ood from Doctor who, also on etsy right now. If you want a specific creature on a bottle, just shoot me an email. I’m not sure when Ill be able to get these bottles again, so first come first served.
Months Later:
I love the air here in Paris. It’s full of life, and not tainted by years of the plague and other death, both manmade and not. I go by the name of Abigail now, wait tables at a small café near the Seine river. Luckily I don’t have to live on just that. Before my escape, I made Will the sole inheritor for any future music sales.
And of course the sales peaked after my disappearance. Once the authorities gave up the search, Will was able to collect for me. He gets his cut, keeps me supplied. I tried watching some of those awful news shows about me, when I first got here, but couldn’t stand the footage of my band-mates, sad as they were. I miss the sound of our songs, but can’t listen to anything we did.
Its’ not often I think of Jackson, but when I do, I wonder if he knows he gave me a get out of free jail card? I wonder, and then someone calls my new name, and I answer in better French everyday.
It’s been real.

Going out to night market in a bit for some grub, the fun continues here in Taiwan. Yesterday we ventured out of the city on a curvy wild bus ride to Wulai, an Aboriginal village in the nearby mountains. Theres a beautiful waterfall there, and we walked up lovers lane to it. The town of Wulai has two neat streets filled with all kinds of touristy stuff, and I had the most amazing Ginger flavored meat on a stick ever. We also tried a weird corn mush thing covered in Hershey’s Chocolate. It was strange but delicious. It’s funny how similar the Aytal people who live here are to the Cherokee indians in North Carolina. So many of there clothes look similar and you have to wonder how far back it was when these people may have lived together. Last night we ate at the Japanese food court in a local mall. I wish we had food that was that good in our food court.
Today we had a big lunch to go to with the family one more time. A big duck feast, that was delicious, but of course I ate too much. We then went to Longshan Temple which has been there since the 1600’s. Its really impressive. We wandered the streets some more before heading back to the hotel for some rest before our night out. Tomorrow is our last day here. We are gonna try and hit a paper museum, and we have a friends dance concert to go to tomorrow night to end our Taiwan experience Our last meal here if they have there way will be at a German Restaurant. I’ve had a blast, but am very tired and a little homesick. One more day to go!
We stop at a gas station an hour outside the city. This is where the changes start. Hair cut, then dyed. Chemicals fill my nose slowly burning up to my lungs. Lots of makeup covers my face. I take my time, looking every now and again at the new me, but Will is getting nervous outside. He knocks hard.
“Come on Sparrow. We got a schedule to keep.”
I finally head out of the bathroom, leaving a disaster of black dye and empty containers behind. I look back at the store as I leave and for moment I flash back to the 7-11. It almost buckles me. Bile fills my throat. Will is leaning casually against the car blowing bubbles in large round formations, and shoots me with his eyes.
“Get in, Joan Jett.” Ha, very funny.
We spin away towards one last stop.
We got up this morning and went to the National Palace Museum, a grand museum on the scale of the Smithsonians. Saw lots of ancient Chinese artifacts and two very strange pieces that are really famous here. A piece of Jade shaped like a cabbage, and a rock that looks like a piece of meat. We wondered how the meat rock ever ended up in a museum, and gained its fame. Im sure its a great story.
We wandered the streets some more after the museum, did some shopping and hit Modern Toilet, a theme restaurant based on modern plumbing. You sit on toilets, eat and drink out of urinals and don’t know whether to laugh or be disgusted. But the ice cream and drinks we had were really good and super reasonably priced so no complaining there. Its an experience for sure.
Ended the night with some Bibim-bop, one of my favorite Korean dishes, so I’ll sleep happy tonight. Theres a incoming Typhoon this weekend, so were hoping the storms will hold off so we can go to the Aboriginal town of Wulai tomorrow.
Just wanted to write and tell you that I’ve been accepted into this July’s Big Crafty in Asheville, NC at Pack Place center. I’ve done the show a few times helping Jessica with her table, but this will be the first time I’ll have my artwork for sale at the show. I’m sharing a table with Jessica. Super excited.
