Comic Review.

Star Trek The Space Between # 3 Very good story that must have taken place in season 7. These comics are nice reminders of TNG and just how simple the show really was.

Also I highly reccomend you pick up the Cross Bronx trade in stores today. It may be Oeming’s best work besides Powers.

slow burn to may explosion

April 6th Grindhouse. Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez in a double feature. I’m really more excited about Rodriguez’s Planet Terror half of this movie so I hope it plays second. Im not sure I can take Quentin’s horror car film Death Proof after a chick with a gun for a leg.

Then Behold a week later the kings of absurd invade the big screen. I have a feeling this will be really terrible but I will gladly give the Aqua Teen Hunger Force as much money as they ask for.

April 20th, may have a gem in Simon Pegg’s(Shaun of the Dead) Hot Fuzz. It has Bill Nighy and the british office’s Martin Freeman in it. Should be good. One month till spidey and pirates 3. awesome.

lucky creature to release new album by cool spot,

o.k. are your really fooled? april fools!

Press Release 4/1/07 Lucky Creature to release new album by cool spot, the california raisins and sonic the hedgehog with guest vocals by sir peas alot. the new album tenatively titled, “i worked my butt off for this company and all i got was this lousy t-shirt” will hit stores next week and will contain the awesome renditions of old macdonald had a farm and “sucka, mario ain’t blue foo'” Lucky creature showrunner Scott Smith adds, “the chance to work with these legends of product placement just blows our mind. It’s the kinda thing were here for. To open the doors to those with less of a chance to succeed in the mainstream. I mean who better than cool Spot to get that notion across? We tried to get the Noid to join in on the project but there were some legal issues that we couldn’t overcome.” When asked about the future of such a line at Lucky Creature Smith could only respond, “Man I hope so. If ever we could work with these legends, it would be great. I mean I’ve got a list so long and songs by Grimace, or even a care bears tribute album. I would kill to work with the Chipmunks. Kill for it.”
Look for the cd/ vinyl/ and 8track release in store next weeks. As always if your store doesn’t carry Lucky Creature send them to the website or just order directly from us.

Cross BronX, Gears of War

No new comics today. I did pick up the Cross Bronx Limited series by Michael Avon Oeming and Ivan Brandon and just got through the first issue. It’s pretty good crime story so far and I love the art.
Gears of War is as good as everyone says it is. It’s pretty addictive in its nature as well. I played my first online match today but I’m not really good enough to be playing agaisnt anyone else right now. I got killed pretty quickly. I really am enjoying the single player and am probably about a 1/3rd of the way through it. It’s not often that anything lives up to hype, but so far I’ve got to say Gears does indeed.

BSG Last night.

Well O.k. I can buy everyone except maybe one of them. Pretty awesome stuff though huh? Leads to some pretty interesting twists for the 4th season which isnt till 2008!!! That’s a pretty long hiatus but there is always that often rumored direct to dvd movie. Here’s hoping it’s true.

TMNT brings it back.

2007 may very well go down as the year of the franchise revival. TMNT plays very loose and fun and captures everything of the old movies and shows that has made the turtles so unique to begin with. What’s surprised me about the movie was that their was actually a plotline and the cgi was used wisely with speed to do things that you couldn’t do with actors. Nothing was forced either as Cowabunga sounded more natural now then it did in the 80’s. There were alot of kids in the cinema and I hoped they enjoyed their first experience with the heroes in the half shell as much as I did. A very good family film and a very nice treat for those of us who remember Vanilla Ice in turtles 2.

Southern Graphics Council WERE BACK

So We’re back from SGC in Kansas City. It was a good time and I’m sure jess learned alot of new things for printmaking. I looked at alot of art, ate well and drank lots of beer every night, much of it free at receptions, so who can complain? Hey this was my first printmakers conference so add it to the list:> Next year’s is in Richmond so maybe I’ll be getting back to NC for a week then. Hope so.

Serenity Special edition in July.

So i’m normally opposed to Special Edition’s or “double dipping” as it’s called in the dvd business but I got to say a new 2 disc Serenity set will steal my money so fast it is not even funny. Especially if they replace the awful artwork from the first disc. All that could make it better would be that this dvd comes out in July and on the second disc we get a surprise trailer for a direct to dvd sequel. Not going to happen I know but one has to have hope. Stranger things have happened. Heck this movie is proof of that.
