Fidel as Wolvie

Home from Heroescon and Concarolinas. I’ll post more later but first I got this awesome print of Fidel Castro as Wolverine from Marcus Kiser at Heroescon. He has a nice large array of stuff for sale on his website, including some amazing Transformer prints and a recent Boba Fett. Check him out. His stuff is great. Kiser Studios Website

quick blogging

Heroescon has grown so much since I last went. We have already decided we will have a split Heroes & Criminals/Lucky Creature table next year.

Having fun at ConCarolinas. Should be home late tommorow night, when I will get some pictures up including an awesome print I bought.

Peas 151

Home briefly. Heading out to Heroescon and ConCarolinas for the weekend bright and early and wanted to get this up just a few hours early to make my morning go smoother. Anyway, Peas are in a nice little blurred world this week. Peas 151 Enjoy.

Charleston.

We are in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Spent the day at Isle of Palms swimming in the ocean. It was pretty nice day, not much in the way of great waves but a nice breeze, not overrun with tourists. Went across the bridge into Charleston for dinner. Ate at the Crab House on market street. We joked that our hotel was cheaper than our seafood dinner, but it was worth it.

I like plastic things.

Here’s a shot of my minimates and the new two tiered stand Jess built for me today from some poplar wood at Lowes. Minimates do a few things for me. They fill my need to collect something. They are small so they don’t take up too much space. And they cover lots of my fandoms all at once, including Marvel, Star Trek, and BSG. The cool Ghostbuster ones don’t hurt either. And they actually act as a small bit of inspiration for my creature paintings. So anyway, heres a shot of some of my little plastic men and women, making sure I don’t grow up.

The Book Collector by Daniel L. Maw

Our friend and Lucky Creature Attacks 1 artist Daniel L. Maw has released a printed version of his story the Book Collector. I got mine the other day and it’s a beautiful piece of work which meanders between dreamlike imagery, and Dr. Seuss on drugs. Those are good things in case you were wondering.

Description from Daniel
“For the first time in recorded human history, a complete and bound version of Daniel L. Maw’s epic comic strip “the book collector” is now available for your consumption.

See where the adventures take the mysterious girl and her ferocious fawn in their ambiguous and unnecessarily cute and drawn out story. Observe one painful non-sequitir and confusing page layout after another as Daniel’s shortcomings are revealed and he becomes distracted by commitments and life’s vicissitudes in the embarrassingly long 2 and 1/2 years it took him to make this comic. Notice the inconsistent pacing and drawing style that eventually developed to something nearly palatable about 2/3 the way into the book. Witness Daniel nearly cover most of his rent should he, remarkably and unthinkably, sell ALL the books he printed.

The edition is low and the price is cheap. Own all 62 laserjet printed pages (greyscale) on quality cream colored paper (legal size folded in half – each book measures 8.5″ x 7.5″) bound in a vinyl cover with a color silkscreen image on top. They come in blue and brown flavors. For all you collectors, there is also a color inkjet cover version to choose from as well. Own all 3! Send $8 (+$2 for shipping/handling if you live outside Knoxville) check or PayPal my way and be the first on your block to own this unheard of gem.”

Daniel’s email address to get one is mawdaniel@gmail.com.
I’d suggest you get one before they are all like valuable and stuff.

Mad Men

We just burnt through the 3 seasons of Mad Men on demand and even though the show is a slow burn, it does leave you wanting more. Anyway I find this dubbing funny, but sadly it’s partly accurate of the show as a whole.
