Trip

So were heading to Taiwan on Monday morning, so my blogging might be eratic during the trip. Hopefully we have good internet and I can post here nightly with some awesome shots, but if not I wanted to list a few things that are preloaded and will happen anyway.
Con-news is ready to go with daily posts for the next two weeks, so if thats how you know me, your fine.

Peas will run as usual on Fridays. Next week we have the final part of the Swamp Couple story and the following week we have a strip that will be posted while I’m on the airplane home.

Placebo will continue every Tuesday right here. Theres only four parts to the story left with the final chapter coming June 7th.

So that’s what will be happening here on the blog. I’ve tried to blog about something daily here, and surprisingly its gone o.k. Might not happen on this trip, but I will try.

itinerary.

February is upon us and my little car engine is getting ready to go. Every other weekend is a trip to conlandia. Here’s where I know for sure Ill be the next couple of weeks.

Sat Feb 5th WTH CON at Guilford College. I’ve heard rumors of this con for the past couple of years now. I heard its free, and its good. I’m going on Saturday to check out the show and see MC Frontalot.

Feb 18th-20th, 2011 Connooga, Chattanooga, TN
We went to this last year at historic Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. Its one of the better conventions since we moved away from the midwest. This year we are staying away from the convetion on a riverboat Delta Queen which may be haunted. OOOHHHH. Going as fans.

March 4th-6th. Shevacon in Roanoke, Va. Me & Jess are Guests at this years con. We will be doing a letterpress printing demo, and I will be competing in the Iron Artist as well as having work in the art show.

And then March gets even crazier but thats a post for another day.

Greenville, SC

Jessica is going to Gordo, Al for a week to print like a madwoman, and she’s taking the train down there leaving early tommorow morning out of Greenville, SC, so we are heading down for a day of fun today. It’s funny all the cities we’ve been too all across this country and there is a whole lot in South Carolina that we have never explored. It’s always exciting to go on these little one day road trips. You get just enough of a taste of a place to lean one way or the other on your like or dislike, but you don’t usually exhaust your exploratory appetite for the city on such a short stint. It may look like all strips malls, downtowns, and sidewalks to some of you, but each city to me, has it’s own unique life, it’s own vibe. And for me, collecting that feeling, and enjoying it for the few hours your there is the only way to live.

Charleston.

We are in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Spent the day at Isle of Palms swimming in the ocean. It was pretty nice day, not much in the way of great waves but a nice breeze, not overrun with tourists. Went across the bridge into Charleston for dinner. Ate at the Crab House on market street. We joked that our hotel was cheaper than our seafood dinner, but it was worth it.

We spent all day yesterday at Merlesfest in Wilkesboro, NC. The more we drive around NC, it becomes easier for me to remember why i was drawn home here. The trees alone do it as they just are filled with so much life compared to the empty farming fields of the midwest. The Avett Brothers were very good, and I have the sunburn to prove it. It’s about a two hour drive to Merlefest for us, and I’m sure we will be making it again in the future.

My friend Kymia Nawabi is trying to raise funds for an animation based on her artwork. If you can make even the minimun donation of $3 that would be great. Walking Through the Door Project

Chicago was

Chicago was awesome as usual. The weather could have been nicer, as Thursday wandering the streets with Jessica was the best time exploring the corners without any real sense of direction. The conference was good except it was too spread out, but the stuff we saw was great. It was neat getting a tote bag printed at the Art Institute and seeing the Newberry Library was great especially when we got to go into the depths of the building and see the archives. Saturday the ice came and shut down what could have been a great night to explore. Chicago Comics is a great store and I wish there were more like it.
A great trip, now back to the job hunt.

Heading back to Chicago.

We are heading back to Chicago this weekend for the Southern Graphics Council, a printmaking conference that Jessica has artwork in. The last one we attended was in Kansas City, so no matter what this will be a different experience to say the least. We already have dinner plans for Friday, and I’m sure we will bump into other people we didn’t expect to see while there.

Heading Home.

As soon as everyone wakes up we are making the long trek home. Forecast calls for rain and then Ice. Crossing my fingers that we beat the ice home. Memphis was a good bowl trip even with the games outcome. The parade was alot of fun and we saw Milk which is a very good movie, and a story I didn’t really know. The day of the game we went to the Memphis Zoo and saw the Panda’s again. They are awesome! And the game itself has more of a big time presentation then when I was there last in 1996. Now to get home!

One week till Christmas

It’s one week till Christmas boys and girls. What are you getting?
I’m hoping for some Blu-rays and a nice warm hot chocolate.

In two weeks I’ll be at the Liberty Bowl. Some live college football for me is a nice treat for me these days and anytime it’s the Pirates it makes it worth my time.

Planning my spring mini trips, I know Southern Graphics Council in March is penned in and I’d also like to make Pokketokon, Capricon, Marscon, and the Midwest Gaming Classic all depending on the weather.

Been writing some again, which is fun, even if it leads nowhere.

Oh and I made this painting, available at my etsy store.il_50x5049973160.jpg

Well anyway, hope everyone is doing well!
