my battle with the naturalists.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could, some blunders and absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day, you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. Finish each day before you begin the next, and interpose a solid wall of sleep between the two. This you cannot do without temperance. – Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)”

uh, o.k. sure ralph. I do like to sleep. But I do like my memories even my blunders. I don’t think they encumber me at all, they make me better, and old nonsense is once again new if you want it to be and one man’s nonsense is anothers greatest creation. I’ll keep my days the way im already living them. With one foot going forward and another one holding on to the past.

these streets.

something about city streets, city sidewalks makes me want to explore. It’s funny I can walk for tens of miles in a city, really not going anywhere and not even think about the feeling in my legs, but if you get me out on a nature trail or hike, I’m usually ready to quit before i begin. What does that say about me? God it can’t be good, i just like to wander i guess, hopping into random buildings to see who and what is there. I like the feeling of brick, the smells of exhaust and the sounds of electricity humming around me. I like the rows of houses and the chain restaurants competing for my milkshake money. I guess if I’m out there walking those streets, for all our faults, I can see our progress.

saw the movie junebug last night and if you are like me and from NC you have to see this. there are so many things in that movie that for better or mostly worse are pure NC at the heart. its mostly things i don’t miss but i sure could use a cheerwine right about now, but alas it’s regional.

people who bought this also bought.

two if by sea records one of the fine distros carrying the cd comp we are so happy to have released says customers who have bought this cd also boughtcds by ultimate fakebook, madelene ferguson, elora danan, unicorns, arab on radar, jawbreaker, one line drawing, and ugly casanova, as well as the jade tree comps location is everything. Don’t know what that says about the comp, but it is pretty diverse and good company to be with. Id like to meet those people who bought those great cds.

linotype printing lessons, materlistic feelings.

today i had chinese buffet for lunch and of course i will not need a dinner. After lunch I spent four hours learning how to use a linotype printing machine. It’s a really big machine with all kinds of gears and plates and motors and really makes you feel like your in the 1920’s. I now have these neat metal slugs that say lucky creature on them now for use in a printing press and i can use a linotype machine although i doubt i would be able to fix anything if it went wrong, which happens alot with old machinery. I can’t imagine what making a newspaper must of been like not so long ago.

I also have been spending way too much money lately with the car and all kinds of other stuff needing fixing, but yet today i bought a used nintendo 64 with superman 64, described to me by the sales clerk as the Worst video game ever made.
So naturally i had to have it. Also just got the latest sigur ros takk and am listening to it as i type. And then as usual were the comics,

Convesations # 2 By jeffrey brown and james kolchaka, a must have for artists as i sure you people have always pondered these questions. For those like myself with no artistic talent, it is a fun enjoyable read.

House of M # 8 The finale to Brian Michael Bendis saga hits and if Marvel doesnt erase the events this will send shockwaves through the marvel U. I say overall the series gets a b from me as a few issues were pretty much too slow and pointless.
ok. have a great day! don’t spend as much as i am!
