Nice weekend.

We just got back into Iowa City.
Had a blast on day one in Chicago. We first went to COlumbia College for the Artist Book Fair where we saw some pretty neat stuff and some things I think that took the definition of ‘book’ a little to far. I left Jess there for a while to do some networking and I headed up to Graham Crackers and Millenium Park. HAd a great lunch at HI Tea, and then headed over to The Printer’s row bookfair filled with streets of books both used and new. Finally we hopped on the blue line to go to Quimby’s. It was nice to see Lucky Creature Attacks next to other compilations like Greatest Comic Anthologies of 2006. :> Jess had sold all of her stuff and made enough money to pay for her purchases and more!
Quimby’s is really a very unique comic store. If you ever get to go you should. Not a Superhero book in sight, and the store is probably twice the size of most comic shops. check it out when you can.
We drove into wisconsin for the night to get ready for day 2.

At the Midwest Gaming Classic. Pinball machines galore! We probably played our ten dollar entrance fee just in the amount of quarters we would have had to put into those machines. I also got a awesome Ice Climber sound figure from Japan, Strider for the Genesis, and a Hook Pinball flyer for my brother. Saw more systems that I never knew existed and even got some down time with an beautiful Neo Geo. Awww…
We had a great drive back stopping to see the crazy Grotto in Dickeyville, Wi and building browsing in Mt. Vernon.

UPDATE 1. Added pictures.

Planet COmicon

Just got back from planet Comicon a smaller sized comic book convention in Kansas City. Got some good trades at 50 percent off a cylon minimate and saw some neat up and coming artists. Also got to go to a panel with Richard Hatch from Battlestar Galactica( my favorite show still on the air) and saw Mr. Jim Lee in person. For good or not he is the artist that changed the comic book industry in the early nineties for me and a bunch of others and then changed it again when his Wildstorm went to DC. Pretty good con, I could see us attending as a vendor once we get the Poster Series rolling.

here comes summer!

Well it’s right around the corner. Here come’s the heat, the humidty and the air condition fun!
Im ready for the popcorn to start flowing this week with spiderman 3 and not let up till the fall.
Already planning some long trips(minneapolis for convergence and vacation), milwaukee and chicago, and wish we had air conditioning in the car. Might head down to Kansas City this week for Planet COmicon. Heard it’s the 2nd biggest show next to Wizard World and since yet again that conflicts with a closer and arguably betterlocal event I will not be attending this year
So much fun right around the corner.

Southern Graphics Council WERE BACK

So We’re back from SGC in Kansas City. It was a good time and I’m sure jess learned alot of new things for printmaking. I looked at alot of art, ate well and drank lots of beer every night, much of it free at receptions, so who can complain? Hey this was my first printmakers conference so add it to the list:> Next year’s is in Richmond so maybe I’ll be getting back to NC for a week then. Hope so.
