Sept Movies

It’s not often that September has this many movies I want to see but most likely a few of them won’t even make it here till october so I should be O.K.
The first week of September has one that I will wait for a rental with in Crank. Jason Stathem has become this generations Bruce Willis as the go to action guy. And as long as he keeps up the work ethic I can see him becoming a pretty major action star.

Sept 8th sees the opening of Hollywoodland. Can Ben Affleck shake the doubters in this George Reeve’s biopic and prove that he has a career left in him. Adrien Brody should elevate the game, and who doesn’t want to find out more about the Superman curse?

Sept 15th. Many of you will run out to see the Black Dahlia. Sure Brian DePalma usually delivers and Scarlett Johannsen is about as A-list as an young actress can get right now, but I think I’ll wait and see the audience reaction before i go to this one.

Sept 22nd What a busy weekend, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these gets pushed back. For the boneheads we have Jackass # 2, and then Jet Li’s final Martial arts movie Fearless. On the other side we Have Michel Gondry’s The Science Of Sleep. Can’t wait for that one. Sean Penn’s wannabee oscar movie All the Kings Men about corrupt politicians and Flyboys. What in the world to go see? and why all on the same weekend?

Sept 29th The LAST KING of Scotland. Forrest Whitaker as a real life dictator. Finally a role worthy of this actor. This should be one of the best drama’s this fall.

and my pick for movie that will only play in large cities and be blasted by fox news.
The Us versus John Lennon.

soo many movies. What will you see?

Battlestar Galactica # 1, Loveless # 10

BSG # 1 well it only took three months to come out after issue # 0. Was it worth the wait? Yeah I think if you like comics and you like BSG then you’ll aprecieate this series. The art could be better but tells the story and Pak writes some nice pieces that just add to the universe. Hopefully they do things with the book that you cant get away with on a tv budget.

Loveless # 10. Although I think Fell has replaced this as my favorite book this is still the prettiest dirty book I could buy. I can see more and more of this story coming together. And it’s a nice violent ride.

Didn’t pick up Alan Moore’s Lost Girls. 75.00 is just too much. did anyone else get it?

why i hate technology upgrades.

o.k. I’m a football junkie. Love my East Carolina Pirates. Used to be able to listen to them for free from afar on the internet. Last year CSTV got the rights and I had to pay for the service. Fine. Everyone needs to make a buck. This year getting ready for football and I log in and guess what? No freaking Macintosh users allowed. WTF? seriously 20 percent of the internet if not more are Mac users. This is B.S. and I want to watch my pirates play. degrade your system. If Mac users worked last year, how can an upgrade make it impossible for them to watch this year. bad business.

Little Miss Sunshine.

Went to see Little Miss Sunshine tonight, and I think it’s got to be in the running for best screenplay. it’s cute where it needs to be and sad where it needs to be. Greg Kinear is great but he’s got to stop playing these losers. And Steve Carrell shows a much larger range as an actor than I thought he had in him. Very good movie that could of easily slipped into the cheesy category but thanks to it’s cast and crew won me over.

Fell# 6 AXM#16

Fell# 6 missed it last week but now i’ve got it and boy is it good. I love snowtown. I love richard fell. I looooovvee mayko. and yet is this really the dark gloomy place i want to love? heck yeah. I admit it. Warren Ellis writes like no other.

Astonishing X-men #16. Kitty Pride kicks major butt. Some space stuff. Wolverine in british dialogue. Only Joss Whedon would torment us so. and all i’ve got to say is yeahbutwhat? really. I agree.

Stargate Sg-1 Cancelled.

Huh. First let me say I’ve never really been a fan of the show, mostly from not having cable and only seeing it scattered episodes on reruns. Plus the whole military thing never really worked for me. But from the outskirts this seemed liked the Sc-fi show that would run forever. It had it’s first chance of cancellation way back in season 5 when Showtime pulled the plug. In came Sci-fi to save the day and the show went on to its now running final 10th season. The actors changed many times even with main star Richard Dean Anderson (yes macgyver) leaving and yet the show continued to plug along. It even produced a spin-off show Stargate Atlantis, which oddly enough Sci-fi just renewed for it’s fourth season. I guess I just got used to the thought that Stargate would run on the cable network forever. I mean what did they have besides Battlestar Galactica that anyone wanted to see? Giant Snakes from Alctratraz part 3? It must of come down to money. Think about it. You’ve been producing this show for how long now? Ten years. Your going to want to get paid. In fact the producers are now saying the show will return in some format, (my bet is a movie, either cinema or direct to dvd style) and either way that means larger cash for less work than a weekly series. As much as I’m curious and maybe a little saddened that one more sci-fi show has left the airways, I’m also wondering if in this day and age, any show will last as long as Sg-1 did. It was a nice run. Enjoy your ten seasons.
