Hoshicon Artist Alley.

I am happy to announce that I will be bringing my collection of creatures to the University of Charlotte campus on April 23rd, 2011 for Hoshicon. I’ll be in the artist alley so come say hi, especially if we’ve never met. Preregistration for the show is only $8 and can be found here. Look forward to meeting the Charlotte crowd.

itinerary.

February is upon us and my little car engine is getting ready to go. Every other weekend is a trip to conlandia. Here’s where I know for sure Ill be the next couple of weeks.

Sat Feb 5th WTH CON at Guilford College. I’ve heard rumors of this con for the past couple of years now. I heard its free, and its good. I’m going on Saturday to check out the show and see MC Frontalot.

Feb 18th-20th, 2011 Connooga, Chattanooga, TN
We went to this last year at historic Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. Its one of the better conventions since we moved away from the midwest. This year we are staying away from the convetion on a riverboat Delta Queen which may be haunted. OOOHHHH. Going as fans.

March 4th-6th. Shevacon in Roanoke, Va. Me & Jess are Guests at this years con. We will be doing a letterpress printing demo, and I will be competing in the Iron Artist as well as having work in the art show.

And then March gets even crazier but thats a post for another day.

Placebo Part 13: Thunder

I watch outside the Greyhound as the capitol falls behind. The cop was fair with me at least. He didn’t contact my parole officer. The Bus driver has specific instructions to not let me off until we get home. I have no desire to go back to jail, so I sit patiently as the miles pass by.
My bike is impounded in DC, so who knows when I’ll be able to get that back? I think of Sparrow on the trip.
Trying to add up the pieces, I know it all ties into the 7-11, but there’s got to be something else going on. Somewhere on the trip, I fall asleep. I’m woken by the sun, and the bus stopping. I’m home.
I walk the few blocks to my apartment through a light mist. When I arrive the thunderstorm is waiting for me.
“Hey Jackson,” Red says below that awful hat. “Rahkim wants a word.”

Charlotte Minicon

Went to the Charlotte Minicon today hosted at the awesome Palmer building. Its a pretty cool place for a convention but super small. This convention has really big name comic book guests, the only problem is they are crammed into a small area. There was probably about 20 dealers total so this con is great if your in Charlotte or have other things on the agenda for the day, but for me, Id see it as hard to justify the two hour one way trip again. Still if your in Charlotte I reccomend the show for the chance to meet some great artists.

Just blocks away is the Heroes Arent Hard to Find comic book store (one of the longest and best in the southeast and also showrunners of the convention) and I spent a while there before heading home adding some comic goodness to my trip.
