3 for feb!

So here’s my valentines month movie previews. There is actually a whole lot of movies coming out in Feb and march( more so than usual) and some actual omg movies as well(300 I’m counting on you) but for feburary only 3 really stand out for me.
Breach comes out Feb 16th and one actor has sold me on it. Chris Cooper is just so good, has been since American Beauty. I can get over the fact that Ryan Phillipe is in it because of this. And hey its a thriller in winter. Why not?

This is the other movie on feb 16th and I admit it probably will be pretty bad. But when you have a discussion on what kind of superheroes you could pull off five years ago Ghost Rider wasn’t one of them. The technology has come so far, I hope this isn’t all razzle Dazzle, cause If a flaming skull on a bike doesn’t work then you can throw out all the other blist heroes chances of a silver screen appearance.

Then on the 23rd is Craig Brewers follow up to HUstle and Flow. Black Snake Moan stars samuel l jackson and christinia Ricci. and well this is the movie alot of critics said should have been released in time for the oscars. O.k. What are you going to see in febuary?

Pan’s Labyrinth. A horror/fairytale movie for adults.

Guillermo Del Toro latest film is dark, harsh, and yet still has a sense of make believe that you can get only on film. It looks like he kept his crew together from Hellboy as the make up is still top notch and the overall look of the film matches the previous one in style and lighting. This is the kind of genre movie that needs to be made more of. It’s serious, and it takes itself and it’s creatures seriously. Wonderful performances all around and like any good fairy tale it follows it’s path.
A.
Doug Jones has created a niche for himself as our creature actor(abe sapien, silver surfer) and this friend below. The Pale Man has one of the best five minutes of creature feature since Godzilla first arrived. He’s scary.

Appleseed Cast, Asobi Sesku, Skursula

Show last night was pretty good. It’s strange but I can definetly see that Appleseed doesn’t hold the same place they did for me so long ago. They are such a good, tight, talented band. But now after so many bands they also seem quite boring. Its a shame because there not doing anything wrong and there songs are as good now as they were then, my ears have just changed over time I guess.
Asobi Sesku really rocks and I suggest anyone who can go see this band, It’s like a new wave blonde redhead.
And the best band for me throughout the evening was Iowa City’s own Skursula. Check out their Myspace page for a taste and I have a feeling you’ll get into it as well.

Show tonight!

Going out in a bit to see Appleseed Cast, Asobi Sesku and Skursula tonight. I first saw Appleseed Cast when I set up a show for them at my high school. Yeah it’s been that long ago. It’s amazing they are still a band. Anyway it will be the first show I’ve braved in quite some time. I think its a good thing, as I’ve receded more and more into my little computer/quais office in my free time.

Two Genre Shows Return

Battlestar Galactica continued it’s third season last night and after watching a pretty great finish to the Colts-Patriots game I was ready for some space opera melodrama. The show isn’t hitting the peaks for me that it did during it’s second year but it is still easily one of my top three shows to watch every week, and I’m pulling for it to get renewed next year.

Heroes tonight returned and brought with it Christopher Eccleston(DR. WHo) Do you realize they could kill off the entire cast and just replace them with new heroes if they wanted too? Better not ask for a pay raise Greg Gruneberg. I like the hokeyness of this show. Yeah I just said Hokeyness. Are the people in Blacksburg, Va happy now?

Kind of a lazy day today. Got up too early for the hour I got in, got some coffee, Watched the pilot for Big Love, hope its another great HBO series. Tommorow night Battlestar premiers at its new night. Maybe i’ll actually get to see it. Friday is just too hard for telelvision but sunday night, I can definetly handle that. Anyone who reads this and wants to lend me there cable, we can be friends, i’ll even bring the chips.

Wii Lan Adaptor Arrives.

So I got my lan adaptor for the Wii last night, finally got my updates, (which allow sd cards to be used). The Weather channel is pretty neat, but not something i’ll probably ever use. I can see how this would sell the system to someone like my dad though. I pretty much just like spinning the earth around. The internet channel is o.k. but why would I want to be on the internet without a keyboard? I probably won’t download the full version when it’s released later this month. The Virtual Console is where all the fun is, and I downloaded Super Mario Bros for my first game. What a classic and now stored directly on my Wii front page. I’m going to have to limit myself but so many of those TurboGraphics games are very tempting since I have never owned Hudson’s 16 bit powerhouse. Bonk’s headbutts are calling. Well at least now I can get excited over Virtual Console monday’s.
